Better Jobs. Better Lives. Better Community.

EMERGE Awarded 'Neighborhood Builder'

March 24, 2015

I'm delighted to announce that EMERGE was awarded Bank of America's Neighborhood Builder Award last Thursday. Mayor Betsy Hodges joined us at the EMERGE Career and Technology Center (ECTC) to celebrate. Knowing that there are many fine organizations working to strengthen our community, I give heartfelt thanks to Bank of America for this recognition. With the recent opening of the ECTC, the $200,000 prize could not have come at a better time.

This is not just a historic time for EMERGE. Launching the ECTC also marks a turning point for North Minneapolis. Now, we truly have the capacity to help community members advance along career pathways. We're changing the focus from jobs, to better jobs

The ECTC represents a collection of partners providing life-changing opportunities in a new way. Together, we'll respond to regional workforce hiring needs, as we prepare low-income people with the skills they need. Several strong partners are already in place and training is well underway.

At this time in the life of our organization, the continued support and unflagging enthusiasm of our community have been critical. Heartfelt thanks go to Bank of America for this exceptional recognition. Thank you all!

In gratitude,

Mike Wynne
