The North 4 Project creates pathways to success for gang/clique involved young men, ages 16- 21, who live in four North Minneapolis neighborhoods: Hawthorne, Jordan, Folwell, and McKinley. Every 16 weeks, a new group of 10 participants are selected for the program via an interview process. The program begins with a week-long job readiness workshop. Then, each young man is assigned a job (a subsidized work experience) for 15 – 20 hours a week. The group meets one afternoon a week for ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring. The overarching goal of the program is for each young man to continue working in an unsubsidized job after the project and to become a contributing member of society.
