EMERGE has acted as a co-developer of a highly successful commercial redevelopment of a long abandoned property at 1101 West Broadway in North Minneapolis. Partnering with the Ackerberg Group, City County Federal Credit Union, and the Bean Scene Coffee Shop, the facility is also the home of the Emerge headquarters.
In 2007, EMERGE completed a co-development of Camden Apartments, a 23-unit supportive housing project in North Minneapolis. This project is a partnership with Project for Pride in Living (PPL) that targets homeless custodial fathers and their families.
EMERGE also co-operates four child care homes in conjunction with First Children’s Finance in Minneapolis and targeting those who wish to start viable child care and early education businesses in homes.
EMERGE helped launch Northside Economic Opportunity Network (NEON), a partnership of community developers to train new entrepreneurs, to mobilize small business capital, and provide technical assistance to business owners in North Minneapolis.
As a Financial Opportunity Center, EMERGE bundles 3 core services to best serve our clients: workforce coaching, income support screenings and financial coaching. Using a relationship based coaching model that meets clients where they are at, clients and coaches work together on goal setting and asset building strategies that strive to increase clients net income, net worth and credit score. Clients receive financial education that provides a base knowledge of budgeting, reducing debt, asset and credit building, consumer protection and banking. The Financial Opportunity Center takes a more holistic approach to traditional workforce strategy that aims to move clients closer to financial stability in their lives.
