Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board Application Fair

Attend an Application Fair to complete an application, attend a pre-screening interview and learn about more than 75 available seasonal job openings on Thursday, March 29 or Thursday, April 12.

Where:  Minneapolis Urban League (2100 Plymouth Ave N, Minneapolis)

When: Thursday, March 29 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. OR Thursday, April 12 ,from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All positions: Must be at least 18 years old, HS diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, and pass pre-employment physical and background check.

Mobile Equipment Operator: Must also have valid MN Class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and tanker endorsements, one year experience driving trucks of at least 26,001 lbs. GVW, good driving record and pass DOT required physical and drug screen.

Park Patrol Agent: Must have one year college coursework in law enforcement, teaching, counseling or closely related field and one year working in a closely related type of position. Equivalent education and experience considered. Thorough background investigation will be conducted. Resumes preferred.

 

FastTRAC Program Opportunities: Culinary Arts

Receive training for livable wage jobs in Culinary Arts through a special training opportunity provided by Minneapolis Community and Technical College, Minneapolis ABE and EMERGE Community Development!

Program Eligibility:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minneapolis resident
  • Able to pass a reading, math, and college entrance exam
  • Meet income guidelines and eligible for financial aid (FAFSA assistance provided by staff)
  • Must commit to 23 hours of postsecondary training (three 5-hour evenings and 8-hour Saturday) each week

When:

  • EVERY Thursday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Get Financially Fit!

Join us for this series of financial fitness classes to help you become financially fit by taking control of your money, getting out of debt, and improving your quality of life.

Session 1: Budgeting to Create Savings
Learn tools to track your spending and start budgeting your savings.

Session 2: Debt Reduction and Asset Building
Learn the importance of making changes that allow you to manage your debt and build your assets.

Session 3: Building a Good Credit Report
Learn how to improve your credit and read your credit report.

Session 4: Consumer Protection and Financial Institutions
Learn about building relationships with banks. Explore various types of insurance and learn how to protect your identity.

All classes are FREE and open to the public.

Classes will be held at the offices of EMERGE Community Development in North Minneapolis.

*Sessions meet every Wednesday for four weeks from 6pm - 9pm. 
A light supper will be provided.  Each session builds on the previous one,
so participants must attend ALL four sessions.
